Munich

Munich is the capital of and the most populated city in the state of Bavaria, which is a federal state of Germany located in its southeastern border. In terms of size, it's the 3rd largest in Germany, coming after Berlin and Hamburg.

While I had visited Berlin and Frankfurt in the past, I had never visited Munich. Thankfully, this trip occurred right during Oktoberfest. I had celebrated Oktoberfest in the states, and learned a little bit of the songs and dances, it pales in comparison to the real experience. We got up super early (think 9 a.m. arrival) to get a spot in the tents. It was freezing! It's also a test in endurance, since we were basically there for 12 hours. By 5:00 p.m., good luck finding anywhere to sit. Most people are standing on the tables by then!

While I was cold, I seriously wish I bought a dirndl for Oktoberfest!

Being from a warmer climate, it was tough having to pile on the layers in Munich just to grab something from the market downstairs. Therefore, I recommend that you come prepared if you're visiting outside of the summer months.

New town hall is a seriously ornate, neo-gothic building with a famous tower and glockenspiel that chimes daily and reenacts stories from the 16th century. It's a great area to people watch, and it's surrounded by loads of great shopping options.

We found a cute restaurant on our first night in Munich.

I'm not sure how Germans are able to eat this type of food and stay thin!
